To qualify for a Quality Assurance Specialist, your resume and supporting documentation must support: A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: Monitoring and overseeing assigned laboratory test activities/processes that frequently require significant modification of standard practices. Planning, monitoring, and evaluating complex tests. Assigning appropriate test and test requirements, reviewing test plans, and analyzing unusual product testing conditions. Utilizes the full range of principles, concepts, and methodology related to quality assurance related product testing activities to plan and accomplish a variety of difficult and complex product testing activities. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Direct the laboratory product testing activities and process for assigned projects.
Assign the appropriate test and test requirements, selects the appropriate testing location/laboratory, then schedules with the Laboratory Specialist to execute testing.
Monitor test results as necessary, and manages the relationship with the laboratory – ensuring the test is completed, laboratory performance is satisfactory, contracts are followed, etc.
Directs the laboratory test program, determines appropriate test criteria, administers and monitors laboratory testing activities, and communicates results to the requester.
Serves as team leader, proving technical leadership to other specialists in making test and evaluation decisions.
Handles the most complex, difficult, and unusual types of testing, which regularly involve application of novel or unique testing approaches, due to lack of adequate testing precedents.
Participates in meetings, conferences, and committees pertaining to the assigned area of product testing expertise.
