The primary purpose of the work is janitorial and custodial work such as sweeping, scrubbing and waxing floors, washing windows and walls, dusting and polishing furniture and fixtures. Work id done by hand or with powered equipment.
To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors: Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (SCREEN OUT) Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (other than blueprints) Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Dexterity and Safety Work Practices (including keeping things neat, clean, and in order) SCREEN OUT: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: I have experience performing custodial work using equipment and ladders; custodial work maintaining buildings and grounds; and can operate power equipment used in custodial work. Examples of the work performed at this level are performing janitorial services to clean and sanitize restrooms, picnic areas, collect trash and grounds maintenance such as mowing, weed eating, blowing and shoveling. These duties were performed under general supervision and completed work was spot checked. Building maintenance custodial work - sweeps, vacuums, scrubs, waxes, and polishes floors; cleans/sanitizes sinks, toilets, fixtures and a variety of other surfaces; dusts exhibits, furniture and other surfaces; collects trash; Moves heavy furniture, supplies and equipment. Grounds maintenance includes cleaning walkways, trails, bridges, sidewalks, and parking lots (including snow/ice removal). Operation and maintenance of UTV's, lawn-tractor-mounted rotary brooms and blowers; operation and maintenance of small equipment and hand tools such as blowers, vacuums, sweepers, etc. Assist other maintenance staff with minor carpentry, painting, electrical and plumbing repairs. Moderate physical effort is required to move and control equipment by pushing, pulling, bending, stooping. Incumbent occasionally carries, sets up and works from ladders; frequently lifts and moves objects weighing over 50 pounds. Considerable standing, walking, bending, stretching and working in awkward positions is required. Work is indoors and outdoors in all types of weather conditions including temperatures up to 100 degrees in summer with periods of high humidity and below freezing in winter.
