Opportunity
Under the direction of the Manager of Eagle Valley Nature Preserve, operate any equipment and perform any tasks assigned that are within the scope of the Preserve's responsibilities and objectives, often without direct supervision.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Habitat restoration and management. May include noxious weed control, invasive brush or tree removal, planting of forbs, grasses, trees or shrubs, controlled burns, harvest of native seed, mowing and other management of native species plantings.Assist with wildlife research projects performing a variety of population surveys and/or behavioral studies.Must be competent with a variety of computer programs including the Microsoft Office suite and integration with GPS.Landscape and trail construction and maintenance including mowing, weeding, pruning, soil preparation, planting or removing trees, shrubs, and plants, fencing and posting borders, cutting and splitting firewood, etc.Must be familiar with operation and maintenance of wildlife surveillance cameras.Minor repair and maintenance of machinery/equipment and buildings/structures.Patrol property during hunting seasons to deter trespass, under the direction of the Manager. Must be comfortable with early morning starts and late day ends of work day, as well as several long days afield during peak hunting periods.Safely use and maintain all equipment necessary to complete assigned tasks.Observe all written standard operating procedures to provide a safe working environment for self, other associates, guests and the general public.Perform any other work assigned by Manager relating to Eagle Valley Nature Preserve. For Eagle Valley Technician II, all duties of Eagle Valley Technician I, and:Be competent with ArcGIS mapping, analysis, and integration with GPS and be able to troubleshoot most computer stoppage issues.Assist manager with basic administrative responsibilities, e.g. budget determination, monthly summary preparation, etc.Be a high quality mentor/leader to newer or less experienced associates.
This position will require weekday & weekend availability. Shifts will vary between 6:30 am - 4:30 pm.
