This vacancy is for a GS-1801-14, Compliance Officer (Marine Safety and Security) located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, D7 PREVENTION DIVISION -DP. Duty location will be determined upon selection.
To qualify at the GS-14 grade level, applicants must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Specialized experience must include the following: Planning, directing, supervising, and coordinating implementation and enforcement of all branch activities including providing technical expertise; Developing/implementing program goals and priorities; Hearing and resolving complaints from employees; Evaluates subordinate supervisors, and is the reviewing official on non-supervisory employees rated by these subordinate supervisors; Provides advice, counsel, and/or instruction to subordinates on career paths, work performance, continuing education, and personnel matters related to the Uniform Code of Military Justice NOTE: Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level. You will serve as an Compliance Officer (Marine Safety and Security) and be responsible for coordinating the roles of the Coast Guard and states in facilitating compliance of Federal marine safety and security and environmental protection regulations. The incumbent serves as the District's Prevention program manager for Inspection and Investigation programs and associated compliance programs at six Sectors and one Marine Safety Unit encompassing three states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands as they relate to regulatory compliance. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Supervising subordinate staff of four active-duty officers including two 0-4s, one 0-3, one 0-2, and two GS-13 civilian employees. Planning, reviewing, prioritizing and coordinating activities, including recommending any necessary changes in policies to accomplish agency mission and objectives. Approving leave and travel for temporary duty dates. Evaluating work performance of all subordinates; serving as supervisor or reviewing Officer for all active-duty members Recommending awards, builds morale; recommends subordinates for advancement/promotion, and other career enhancing opportunities (i.e. graduate school, positions of greater responsibility, technical courses). Leading International engagements with participating nations under CMOU and executes Branch Budget
