Job Description:

A housing subsidy of up to $699.23 per pay period without dependents, or $830.77 per pay period with dependents may be available. This position is located in the Nursing Inpatient Department in Crow, Crow Agency, MT. This position provides direct patient care and nursing leadership to patients of all ages with a variety of medical, surgical, pediatric, and health maintenance needs.

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. Nurse Series 0610 Education A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education , Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools. Areas of specialties for positions include, but are not limited to, Acute Care, Anesthesia, Community Health, Family, Geriatric, Home Health, Midwifery, Neonatal, Oncology, Pediatric, Psychiatric, Allergy and Immunology, Women's Health, Cardiovascular, Dermatology, Occupational Health, Orthopedic, Respiratory, or other specialties identified for the position. Licensure For all grade levels and positions, applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination . In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. Experience The work experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. At the GS-9 and above grade level, many positions may require experience in a specialty area of nursing. In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-09) in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Assign and monitor the specific duties of nursing personnel. Identify and analyze problems to make well-informed decisions to meet patient care. Assess the patient care needs; adjust staff and collaborate with the Nurse supervisor as necessary. Develop a plan of care for individual patients utilizing nursing diagnosis. Consult with primary care provider and other healthcare professionals on patients to coordinate diagnostic and therapeutic regimens for patients. Provide orientation to new employees. Participate and contribute to clinical performance improvement activities. Document observations, nursing interventions, therapeutic measures administered and patient response to treatment or nursing care. Evaluate professional growth and activities implemented to improve nursing services. Time In Grade (Merit Promotion Candidates Only) Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
Functions as a charge nurse overseeing nursing care to a group of patients. Delegates nursing duties to licensed and unlicensed staff. Prepares assignments, guidance and leadership to nursing personnel of varied skill levels including nursing assistants, ward clerks, practical nurses, staff nurses, nursing students and others. Accepts responsibilities. Participates in and provides leadership for Quality Assurance activities, such as nursing audits, discharge planning, infection control and nursing care conferences. Will provide leadership to other nursing staff on the performance improvement process. Provides comprehensive nursing care to patients based on nursing assessment and on the physician's medical plan of care. Utilizes the nursing process to identify individual patient problems and to develop, implement and evaluate patient care plans.
