Job Description:
This position is located in Immigration Records and Identity Services, National Records Center, National Records Center Executive Staff. As a FOIA Assistant (OA), you will receive, assign, and monitor incoming requests for information under the Freedom of Information Act and Privacy Act, preparing correspondence regarding information requests, collecting and organizing data and researching requirements using automated systems.

Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service. The Time-in-Grade requirement must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 08/11/2025. GS-07: You qualify at the GS-07 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-06 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties: Compiling statistical information from automated resources to be used in the evaluation of data quality; Resolving intermediate to complex problems regarding requests; Researching and interpreting guidelines for use in reports and cases. Receiving, assigning, and monitoring the status of incoming FOIA/PA requests using automated information systems.
Performing an in-depth review and analysis of incoming requests to determine required action.
Prepare correspondence, notices, internal memoranda, and/or other documentation as required.
Produce spreadsheets, procedures, memoranda, and presentations using office automation software as requested by management.
Identify and follow administrative procedures for receipt, control, and adequate response to FOIA/PA immigration requests within statutory time limits.
Perform research, analysis, and evaluate using a variety of systems to locate records and determine if requests comply with all statutory and regulatory requirements.
