Job Description:

You will serve as a CIVIL ENGINEER (STRUCTURAL) in the Business Directorate, Capital Improvements, Engineering and Design, Structural Engineering, Naval Facilities Engineering Command of NAVAL FACILITIES ENG SYSTEMS COMMAND PAC. A Cost-of-Living-Allowance (COLA) of 8.64% will be added to the stated salary.
This position has a selective placement factor that will be used to screen out ineligible candidates. The selective placement factor is: Current registration as a Professional Engineer by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Preparing engineering drawings for the structural portion of civil engineering facility design projects; 2) Developing solutions to structural engineering problems; 3) Interpreting policy, regulations and engineering criteria to determine impact on civil/structural engineering design projects; and 4) Monitoring civil/structural projects to ensure adherence to budget, schedule and quality standards. You will develop complex design and analyses utilizing advanced structural engineering software.
You will investigate or evaluate structural issues and concerns in existing facilities.
You will direct and coordinate activities with other engineers and architects to ensure that final detailed working drawings, specifications and Request for Proposals (RFPs) are property integrated with the building systems.
You will perform quality assurance reviews of drawings, specifications, calculations, cost estimates, and studies for large complex projects.
You will prepare statements of work, government estimates of fee, develops pre-negotiation position and assist in negotiations.
You will perform technical administration of design, design management, and coordination efforts with other engineers and architects involved in multi-discipline projects.
You will serve as the NAVFAC Pacific Subject Matter Expert for Waterfront design in accordance with applicable governing codes and criteria.
