Job Description:
You will serve as a DEPUTY GOVERNMENT INSPECTOR in the NUCLEAR ENGINEERING & PLANNING DEPARTMENT of PSNS and IMF.
For GS-13: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as professional ENGNEER independently conducting inspections and analysis of technical specifications such as welding, fabrication, brazing, material procurement, and repairing of naval vessels and/or structural systems and nondestructive testing (NDT) procedures to identify and resolve critical problems to ensure quality assurance requirements are met. You will review and provide approval of nondestructive test pieces, radiographs, examination questions and answers prepared by various command organizations, and used to qualify personnel.
You will assess the quality and fabrication requirements for NDT, welding, and allied processes and assure Command policies meet these requirements.
You will provide agency staff level advice and guidance in Quality Assurance matters for the naval nuclear propulsion program and naval ship maintenance.
You will evaluate new developments in technology or regulatory matters.
You will review and approve Command vendor nondestructive test, material identification, and welding procedures.
You will develop criteria for evaluating program accomplishments and trends and making recommendations on changes in program emphasis.
You will monitor Command and vendor Quality Assurance systems to confirm they are capable of ensuring all requirements of applicable specifications are being met.
You will provide approval of policy documents such as designs, plans, instructions, Nuclear Power Manuels, and nondestructive testing (NDT) procedures subsequent to their approval by the cognizant division head.
