Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. For current Federal employees, if hours worked per week are not included on your resume, you must submit a non-award SF-50 for each federal position listed as part of your application to be used to validate your work schedule and determine the amount of qualifying experience that you will be granted. To qualify for this position at the GS-05 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: (1) performing clerical work in direct support of the emergency communications center; (2) assisting with public safety dispatching (e.g. law enforcement, emergency medical, search and rescue, and fire); (3) monitoring and/or responding to radio communications and; (4) assisting with answering 911 calls using emergency reporting systems.You must include hours per week worked. -OR- EDUCATION: Successfully completed 4 full years of education above the high school level. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. You must submit copies of your transcripts. -OR- COMBINATION: Equivalent combination of the specialized experience described in "A" and the education described in "B." The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. Note: You must provide copies of your transcripts. To qualify for this position at the GS-06 grade level, you must possess all of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: (1) providing public safety dispatching (e.g., law enforcement, emergency medical, search and rescue, and fire) operations in the communications center; (2) providing instructions to callers for medical emergencies using an approved Emergency Medical Data card-set; (3) operating with law enforcement computerized databases such as national law enforcement telecommunications system (NLETS), criminal justice information system (CJIS), national crime information center (NCIC) and; (4) preparing records to capture all significant events for later analysis. You must include hours per week worked. To qualify for this position at the GS-07 grade level, you must possess all of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: (1) full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service (obtained either in the private or public sectors) performing the following: (1) providing public safety dispatching (e.g., law enforcement, emergency medical, search and rescue, and fire) operations in the communications center; (2) prioritizing and/or responding to all 911 calls; (3) utilizing emergency systems to coordinate response and; (4) ) providing training on law enforcement and/or public safety dispatching systems. You must include hours per week worked. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. ICTP/CTAP: Current surplus and current or former displaced Federal individuals who have special priority selection rights under the Agency Career Transition Assistance Program (CTAP) or the Interagency Career Transition Assistance Program (ICTAP) must be well qualified for the position to receive consideration for special priority selection. Well qualified means that the applicant meets the following: OPM qualification standards for the position; all selective placement factors, where applicable; special qualifying conditions that OPM has approved for the position, where applicable; is physically qualified with reasonable accommodation, where appropriate to satisfactorily perform the duties of the position upon entry; and is rated by the organization at least at the well qualified level on all competencies. Major Duties Summary These positions are located at Cuyahoga Valley National Park in the Visitor and Resource Protection Division. They may be developmental in nature and may be hired at the GS-5, GS-6, or GS-7 grade level. If hired below the full performance level, positions will have promotion potential to the GS-7. Responsibilities The incumbent performs emergency and non-emergency dispatch and call taking services for public safety incidents and operations in a regional communications center serving multiple National Parks. Monitors and tracks equipment and personnel such as law enforcement, structural fire, wildland fire, aviation, vessels, and search and rescue using a Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) program. Operates a multi-frequency radio console and prioritizes radio traffic and related communications. Utilizes NCIC (National Criminal Information Network) and other law enforcement databases and records management systems. Other duties include: records management, general public assistance, assistance to other park offices and partners, and projects as assigned in support of the Visitor and Resource Protection Division. Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level.
