To be qualified for the GS-12: You must have at least one year of full-time specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service performing a variety of investigatory work. The following are examples of specialized experience: participating in the development of investigative strategies preparing subpoenas and discovery requests that pertain to the analysis, evaluation and relevance of evidence or issues which arise during the litigative/investigative process conducting substantive research, evaluation and analysis of documents or records managing evidence in electronic and hard copy formats and preparing for the use of it in each stage of the investigation/litigation Career Transition Assistance Plan (CTAP)-The CTAP provides eligible surplus and displaced competitive service employees in the Department of Justice with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies. If your Department of Justice component has notified you in writing that you are a surplus or displaced employee eligible for CTAP consideration, you may receive selection priority if: 1) this vacancy is within your CTAP eligibility, 2) you apply under the instructions in this announcement, and 3) you are found well-qualified for this vacancy. If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for civil investigation work. Typical work assignments will include: Conducts complex investigations and financial examinations based on cases or broad legal issues assigned to one or more Assistant United States Attorneys Conducts extensive searches of files, records, and regulatory processes to find or obtain appropriate evidence for prosecution. Performs complex quantitative, qualitative or other analysis of relevant facts. Prepares fully documented investigative reports which are self-explanatory and self-sustaining with inclusion of facts and recommendations for disposition of each matter investigated. Analyzes data, reports and other sources to identify possible subjects for investigation. Compiles documents and physical evidence, and creation of charts, graphs, videotapes, and other audio-visual materials for use in motions and at trial. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
