This position is located in the Registration & Admission Unit at Kayenta Health Center, Kayenta, AZ. This section provides registration & eligibility services with patients to obtain & process information for Patient Registration. Incumbent reports to Supervisory Health System Specialist.
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): GS-04: One (1) year of general experience General Experience: Progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to perform the work of this position at the GS-4 level OR 2 years above high school. Education: Successfully completed study at an accredited college or university in any subject is fully qualifying in the amount and level specified in the table. Typing Proficiency Requirements: In addition to meeting experience or education requirements, applicants must provide evidence of their typing proficiency of 40 words per minute typing speed based on a 5-minute sample from a school or other organization authorized to issue such certificates. Certificate must not be over three (3) years old and must be on a business letterhead. This agency does not accept self-certifications. For current or former Navajo Area Indian Health Service employees who left within three (3) years, you may attach a copy of your latest SF-50, Notification of Personnel Action, that indicates Office Automation (OA) next to your position title. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
Patient interview to obtain pertinent patient registration information i.e., demographic and insurance information and authorizations to enable the Business Office to bill for health care services provided from all alternate resources, including the non-beneficiary services. Interview patients to obtain information to initiate new health record, and/or communicate to Medical Records to reactivate a retired/stored record. Assists the patient in completing new or updated form for the Patient Registration system. Determines the eligibility of patients seeking health care, who have not preciously been treated at the facility by obtaining the certificate of Indian Blood or other documentary proof of tribal membership, according to the IHS Guidelines. Maintain, key/enter, updates and verify all alternate resources data necessary for Patient Registration. Collects third party recipient health cards, obtaining photo copies of card, explaining the program to the beneficiaries i.e., why Medicare, Medicaid, and/or Private Insurance will be billed.
