About the Position: Serve as a Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor with the US Army Engineer District, Huntington Regional Rivers Repair Fleet, Medium Capacity Fleet with duty location in Neville Island, PA.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor without more than normal supervision. Experience in: Work under the general direction of a higher graded employee to ensure the assigned work is completed properly, efficiently and timely; however, complete the work with minimal supervision or support and take full responsibility for the work. Have a good understanding of the majority of the trades and crafts fields and typically work with other various trades to produce a single end product. Always use proper work methods and possess a current knowledge of work procedures, policies, written instructions and other directives. Have some experience in the use of instruction manuals, technical manuals and drawings. Research and order parts, supplies and materials as necessary to keep a full-service repair shop fully functional. Have a general knowledge of workplace safety and demonstrate this knowledge on a daily basis. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to meet deadline dates under pressure Ability to plan and organize work Ability to work with others Ingenuity (Ability To Suggest and Apply New Methods) Knowledge of different relevant lines of work PHYSICAL EFFORT: Incumbent performs work from ladders, scaffolding, and platforms and where the parts, equipment, or systems are in hard-to-reach places. Work requires the incumbent to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, crawl, climb, and work in a tiring and uncomfortable position. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed inside and outside subjecting employee to varying climatic conditions, abnormal noises, temperature, danger of burns, irritation from grease and oils, bruises, strains, danger from attending moving machinery, falling overboard, electrical shock, falls on slippery decks or steep stairways, possible drowning, and crankcase explosion. Life jackets are always worn while on deck.
Primary technical expert concerning the utilization of trades and labor workers in major repair and maintenance operations.
Coordinates work at multiple stages in the planning process.
Coordinates schedule changes as far in advance as possible.
Inspects work in progress for quality and adherence to established policies, procedures and work methods.
Plans and coordinates the use of the specialized skills of subordinates, particularly divers, in support of R3F operations.
Organizes, directs, and coordinates the work being accomplished on multi-shift operations in geographically disbursed worksites.
Recommends training for subordinate supervisors and employees.
Conducts safety meetings and ensures safety records are properly maintained.
Assures that travel, time and attendance, and leave policies are administered fairly and properly.
