Job Description:
This position serves as a financial analyst responsible for performing financial management functions and analysis associated with travel, permanent change of station (PCS) and the Government Travel Charge Card (GTCC) program.
You must meet the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) qualifications for 0501 series and additional requirements by the announcement closing date. Your resume must clearly show that you have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level. Experience can be under other Federal service pay systems, private sector, or military. Specialized experience is defined as: Utilizing extensive knowledge of policies, precedents, goals, objectives, regulations, procedures, and guidelines of accounting, budget, and financial processing procedures. Developing narrative and statistical justification for requested travel funds to support adjustments to the travel budget. Analyzing a variety of reports to provide financial advice related to travel programs. You will receive credit for all relevant qualifying experience (paid and unpaid), including volunteer work done through National Service program (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). The selectee for this position will be expected to perform the following duties: Provides professional and technical financial advice to all DeCA components. Performs data management and analysis using a variety of financial systems. Communicates the status of accounts, accounting classifications, report discrepancies, and interpretations of regulations. Performs internal control reviews of financial and accounting data and reports. Identifying weaknesses, developing corrective action plans, and developing new procedures to increase efficiency and accuracy of financial policies and systems. Reconciles reports and transactions related to assigned programs. Records accounting transactions in Defense Agency Initiative (DAI) for contracts, Military Interdepartmental Purchase Request (MIPR), Miscellaneous Obligation Reimbursement Documents (MORD), and property.
