This vacancy is for a GS - 0080 - 13, Security Specialist (Port) located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, SECTOR NEW YORK COMMAND CADRE.
To qualify at the GS-13 grade level, applicants must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Specialized experience must include the following: Training in deliberate and exercise planning concepts and processes, Incident Command System, the National Response Plan, and Continuity of Operations Policy and planning. Planning program activities and applying policy direction to specific operational requirements. Developing guidance for applying security policy, procedures, techniques, equipment and methods to a variety of work situations and various degrees of levels of security controls. Experience as a Deputy Planning Section Chief or equivalent Disaster or pollution response contingency and exercise planning. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. You will serve as a/an Security Specialist (Port) providing program administration Maritime Security preparedness planning, subject matter expertise, and technical support for Area Maritime Security CAMS) Plans (AMSPs) and procedures with a subspecialty in Marine Transportation System (MTS) recovery, including marine salvage and removal of obstructions to navigation. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Providing preparedness planning and incident management technical support for Ports, Waterways, and Coastal Security (PWCS) aspects of other port-level contingencies and plans, including Area Contingency Plans (ACPs) and resumption of maritime commerce. Providing program review for assessments of maritime security risks to MTS recovery waterway and harbor clearance including salvage response activities and plan and support coordinated planning and implementation of deterrence and protection measures to defeat associated threat vectors. Assisting in the negotiation and preparation of cooperative agreements between the unit and outside sources. Coordinating arrangements for government and contracted site-specific planning, technical, and operational services for marine salvage and harbor clearance. Monitoring, documentation and preparation of reports.
