The Office of the United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut is seeking applications for two Assistant United States Attorneys to serve in the Criminal Division. The Criminal Division in the District of Connecticut consists of three units. The Major Crimes and National Security Unit is responsible for prosecuting matters involving immigration, human trafficking, civil rights, government program fraud, and environmental crimes, as well as matters involving international and domestic terrorism, and cybercrime. The Violent Crimes and Narcotics Unit includes the District's Organized Crime and Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF), Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) prosecutions, and violent crime, gangs, and narcotics investigations. Finally, the Financial Fraud and Public Corruption Unit includes securities and investor fraud, public corruption, bank fraud and embezzlement, mortgage fraud, tax fraud, health care fraud, bankruptcy fraud and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act violations. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress. Security Requirements: Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory preemployment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. In addition, continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation. Residency Requirements: Assistant United States Attorneys generally must reside in the district to which he or she is appointed or within 25 miles thereof.
