About the position: This position will be assigned to the Travis Outdoor Recreation facility at Travis AFB, CA. Work Schedule: Intermittent (Flexible) employees have no guaranteed hours but may work up to 40 hours per week. Physical Effort: Lift and carry equipment up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift up to 75 pounds with assistance. Eligible to use base facilities such as: Base Exchange (BX), Gym, Outdoor Rec, Library, Marina, Golf Course, Bowling Center, and the Arts & Crafts Center.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Must have familiarity with the rules and procedures followed in group activities or programs. Must have practical knowledge of equipment used in a recreation program. Familiarity using trip planning tools such as flow, weather, ski and tidal reports is desired. Specialized experience gained working in one or more areas of Outdoor Recreation such as back packing, whitewater rafting, flatwater canoeing, whitewater kayaking, mountain biking, rock climbing, surfing, etc. is preferred. Experience with Microsoft Office software programs is highly desired. Wilderness medicine certification is desired. Ability to occasionally lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs, and with assistance for objects weighing over 50 lbs. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Assist in the planning, developing, coordinating and leading a variety of instructional classes, clinics, trips, trip leader trainings, and whitewater raft guide training. Assists in programming for the indoor rockwall/outdoor boulder to include leading belay classes, open climb nights, climbing workshops, climbing competitions, route setting and rope placement. Performs preventative maintenance and inspects indoor and/or outdoor recreation equipment for safety, security and general conditions. Provides instruction, guidance and leadership to participants, modifying, adapting, expanding, or otherwise changing plans and procedures for specific activities as developments require. Assists the Outdoor Adventure Programmer with program marketing and completing post trip/activity duties for all activities. May serve as the primary point of contact between the Outdoor Adventure Program and the Community Specialist planning programs and special events geared towards specific units/squadrons. Assists with planning of R4R program trips/activities. Incumbent may be responsible for towing and parking various sized vehicles weighing up to 10,000 lbs including travel trailers.
