Basic Requirement: Individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Along with the basic requirements listed above, you must also possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience described below to qualify based on experience. Experience: You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Applying information technology concepts, principles, methods, and practices applicable to Customs and Border Protection technologies to provide technical advice, recommendations, and guidance on a variety of complex issues to management and field technology officers; Applying IT security certification and accreditation standards sufficient to monitor and evaluate Customs and Border Protection systems' compliance with IT security requirements; Conducting risk and vulnerability scans and assessments of assigned FISMA systems while monitoring systems for misuse and spillage of classified data; and Implementing and monitoring information systems for the analysis and tracking of program data, long-term and short-term plans, policies and priorities established by statutes, executive orders, the Department, or management. In this position, you will become a key team member of Homeland Security individuals involved in performing duties that involve ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems, networks, and data throughout the planning, analysis, development, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of Information systems security programs, procedures, and tools. This work affects a wide range of major aspects of agency-wide activities, the work of other technical experts, the development of major aspects of agency-wide IT programs and CBP work methods. This position starts at a salary of $124,531.00 (GS-14, Step 1) to $161,889.00 (GS-14, Step 10). As an Information Technology Specialist (INFOSEC), you will be responsible for ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems, networks, and data throughout the planning, analysis, development, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of Information systems security programs, policies, procedures, and tools. Typical work assignments will include: Planning, developing, coordinating, and delivering briefings and presentations for senior management on the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) status of systems in development and in production. Developing policies to govern IT audit activities and ensuring the application of information security policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of audit management services. Answering requests for information and providing subject matter expertise for in-depth research and analysis on a wide range of security related topics. Collaborating with the CBP Office of Information Technology to ensure PMOD programs attain the appropriate cybersecurity authorities to operate in compliance with DHS and CBP standards.
