Job Description:

This position is located within the Business Office at the Pawnee Indian Health Center in Pawnee, Oklahoma. The primary function is to provide registration and eligibility services information by interacting with patients to obtain and process demographic and third-party resource information. Incumbent will report to the Business Office Supervisory Health System Specialist.
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Applicants must meet the following typing proficiency: 40 words per minute based on a five-minute sample with three or fewer errors. In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: GS-04: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of general experience. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office or other work that indicates your ability to perform the work of this position at the GS-04 level. OR Two (2) years of education above the high school level. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR A combination of education and experience that when combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for the GS-04. GS-05: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector. Examples include screening and interviewing patients or customers to obtain or verify information; inputting and updating data in computerized data system; performing a variety of receptionist duties such as receiving patients, visitors, and telephone calls; and explaining policies and procedures to patients or customers. OR Four (4) years of education above the high school level. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college, or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. OR A combination of experience and education. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. For example, one full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
Interviews patients to obtain pertinent patient registration information. Assists patients in completing new or updated forms. Verifies eligibility for all patients seeking services. Registers patients into the registration system. Prepares new patient chart or reactivates a chart.
