A master¿s degree in athletic training or physical therapy or a related field, Certification (ATC) from the National Athletic Trainer¿s Association Board of Certification (NATABOC) with eligibility for state licensure and a minimum of three years of experience as an ATC or a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT). CSCS certification from the National Strength and Conditioning Association, or SCCC certification from the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association required. Certifications must be attached to application. At least one year of experience implementing and executing a budget for large scale programs is desired. Advanced knowledge in the following areas: Experience with college and /or professional athletics and /or military sport medicine. Proficiency in Pathology of chronic and acute injuries related to military service, high school, college, or professional sports. Experience evaluating and providing services related to orthopedic injury. Familiarity with Acute care of injuries and illness related to the military training environment. Awareness of Therapeutic modalities such as ultrasound, cryotherapy, thermotherapy, neuromuscular electrical stimulation, transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation, continuous passive motion, massage, dry needling, Graston, and other passive modalities. Skilled in computerized and state of the art equipment associated with conditioning, recovery, and reconditioning. Knowledge of psychosocial interventions and referrals methods. Awareness of injury reduction and risk management process. Expertise in Nutritional aspects of injury, illness, recovery, and supplementation. Awareness of Healthcare administration and policy. Expert within Professional experience writing, publishing, and developing Athletic Training curriculum delivered to staff and target populations. The ability to articulate an understanding of health literacy needs of the population related to physical recovery, injury prevention, and stress management and work as part of a comprehensive team to fulfill the mission and contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures that affect the readiness of the Marine Corps community. Skill to communicate with high-ranking officials and active-duty personnel.
This is an administrative position at the Headquarter Marine Corps level with limited hands-on practice and interaction with warfighters and their families. Develops and oversees policy, practice, and accreditation in the areas of physical agents, proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation, therapeutic exercise, reconditioning, and recovery to provide structured program interventions, reconditioning protocols, education, and policy to include clinical and non-clinical protocols for the Marine Corps Total Fitness (MCTF) and WARR system, Performance Centers, and recovery spaces. Evaluates Marine Corps sports programs for overall recovery and injury mitigation. Executes injury management, recovery, and reconditioning programs throughout Semper Fit for all authorized users. Monitors, and controls environmental risks, and develops organizational measures of effectiveness and performance Measure of effectiveness and performance (MOE/MOP) for Sports Medicine / Athletic Training Programs. Maintains awareness of current research and practice in the field of sports medicine to include health, wellness, prevention, and performance for warfighters and their families. Assists the military community in developing and teaching recovery, performance, and reconditioning skills that reduce injury, disease, and improve performance as it relates to Marines Corps Total Force Fitness (MCTF). Develops cooperative relationships with strategic partners and stakeholders for the purpose of facilitating efficiency and service delivery. Implements standards and guidelines on the handling of sensitive information that is proprietary, privileged, confidential or otherwise legally exempt from disclosure. Inspects and ensures installations safeguards sensitive information and prevents unauthorized reading, printing, retaining, copying, or dissemination of information, messages, or correspondence in accordance with rules and regulations such as those covered by the Privacy Act, 5 USC 552(a), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, Public Law 104-191, and DoD Directive 6025.18. Requires installation Athletic Trainers to notify higher level supervisor, and headquarters and senders immediately when proprietary information has been released and advises on how to properly recover and protect information. Collaborates with a diverse network of primary prevention and intervention providers such as Navy Medicine Health Protection Command, The Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Team, The Bureau of Medicine and Surgery, The Uniformed Services University, Consortium for Health and Military Performance, the Dietitian and Food Sciences Director within MFS, and other agencies, and installation Semper fit Program Managers. Incumbent will also participate in working groups with other Department of Defense Agencies such as the Military Injury Prevention Working Group. Establishes interconnectedness and synthesis implementing inter-disciplinary approaches to enhance performance, health, and recovery within the military environment. This is a white-collar position where occasional lifting up to 20 lbs. may be required. May travel to complete work assignments. May perform other duties as assigned. May work a fluctuating work schedule and travel to support other programs such as All Marine Sports outside of the typical work week and work hours. Performs other related duties assigned by the Semper Fit Director.
