To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements: Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.M., if related. Graduate Education: Major study – - electrical or electronic engineering, mathematics, physics, public utilities, statistics, computer science, telecommunications management, information systems management, business administration, industrial management, or other fields related to the position to be filled. OR Experience: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level in federal service. Experience in evaluating, analyzing, developing, managing, or improving communications systems, procedures, and requirements that demonstrated knowledge of current developments and trends in communications concepts and technology. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular qualifications perform successfully the duties of the position, and must typically be in or related to the position to be filled. Some examples of qualifying experience are: Experience in evaluating, analyzing, developing, managing, or improving communications systems, procedures, and requirements that demonstrated knowledge of current developments and trends in communications concepts and technology. Experience in planning and assisting in the activation of new facilities in the areas of requesting equipment, implementing and testing automated systems, and providing on-site training to institution. Experience planning and conducting testing and making recommendations on new software/hardware requirements or modifications to existing systems. Serves as the Telecommunications Specialist in the FPI national call center (Central Service Center), located at the Federal Medical Center (FMC) in Lexington, KY. Ensure there is secure, productive, and effective use of FPI telecommunication resources at the CSC. Serves as the software expert on the Public Branch Exchange system (PBX) and the Automatic Call Distributor (ACD) system, and maintains system security over the ACD/PBX programs. Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staff correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on regular and recurring basis.
