Job Description:

This position is located in the Housekeeping Services at the Quentin N. Burdick Memorial Health Care Facility, Belcourt, North Dakota. The main objective of the Motor Vehicle Operator/Custodial Worker position is to perform transporting of patients by ambulance and Government Vehicle, and a number of various cleaning tasks requiring light to heavy physical effort and involving the use of heavy equipment. Responsibility includes providing service to the main hospital and clinic.
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Driver's License: In order to qualify for this position, you must have a valid State Driver's license. Screen Out: Your resume must demonstrate the ability to do the work of the Motor Vehicle Operator without more than normal supervision. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate the ability to perform the duties of this position in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: WG-06: Demonstrated work experience in use of emergency vehicles to safely transport patients, respond to emergency medical calls with respect to road safety rules, regulations, and driving through hazardous roads and terrain, prevent discomfort or injury to passengers. OR experience in emergency vehicle transportation safety and some experience assisting first responder technicians experience in a regular day to day duties. OR served as a safety observer in emergency situations providing assistance in routine emergency medical duties OR experience performing routine emergency medical facility cleaning, medical supply's stocking for future use. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
Operates motor vehicles for the Quentin N. Burdick Memorial Healthcare Facility with appointment driving being the main objective. Works with EMS on a daily basis to take local ambulance calls (911, local) to transport patients to local hospital for emergency services, transport responds with EMS on all calls. Assigned as a driver to assist EMS and bring patients safely to the hospital, transport patients by ambulance to other facilities for emergent transport and appointments, and follows all safety rules, regulations, and traffic signs, driving carefully and avoiding rough terrain and hazardous roads and grounds to prevent discomfort or injury to passengers and damage to vehicle. Cleans and disinfects patient rooms, exam rooms, lab, pharmacy, dental areas, optometry, physical, occupational therapy areas, offices, and outpatient area as well as bathrooms, storerooms, employee coffee rooms, drinking fountains and all other public use areas.
