Job Description:

YOU WILL SERVE AS AN AEROSPACE ENGINEER IN THE AIR SYSTEMS GROUP, PROPULSION AND POWER ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT, IN THE TOURBOFAN/TURBOJET ENGINE DIVISION OF NAVAIRWARCENAC DIV. Seeking a highly qualified Senior Engineer to lead turbine engine advanced development and technology transition initiatives. This critical position supports basic design engineering processes, advanced development and concept demonstration of all turbine engines.
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12/13 grade level or pay band DP-04 in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional AEROSPACE ENGINEER, performing duties such as: Experienced in managing engineering teams; 2) Experienced in engine development and sustainment; 3) Experienced in transition of S&T/developmental items to fielded engines; 4) Experienced in air system airworthiness; 5) Evaluate research projects, execute design and development programs to introduce improved designs into the fleet, and serve as the senior design expert providing technical management and oversight for advanced turbine engine programs; 6) Coordinate with propulsion S&T and acquisition programs, supporting program goal definition, conducting technical reviews, and analyzing propulsion degraders to develop innovative solutions; 7) Serve as the primary turbine engine technical expert responsible for technology transition to meet air breathing engine propulsion program goals; 8) Survey technology constraints across engine programs, identifying development priorities, coordinating technology insertion projects, and serving as liaison with turbine engine Integrated Program Teams (IPTs); 9) Participation in acquisition policy formulation, documentation of lessons learned, and serving as an expert consultant to IPTs, PMAs, PEOs and technical domain stakeholders; 10) Represent Naval Aviation with industry, joint services, academia and foreign partners; 11) Supports technology development strategies through the generation and execution of science & technology roadmaps and plans; 12) Must have strong technical skills, demonstrated leadership capabilities, influencing and negotiations skills, with strong oral and written communication skills. You will serve as the senior design expert for turbine engine advanced development programs, providing technical management and oversight in defining, designing, developing and testing advanced turbine engines.
You will support basic design engineering processes, advanced development and concept demonstration of all turbine engines and survey and coordinate technology constraints/needs across engine programs.
You will assist with feasibility studies of new weapon systems, generating new concepts, designing devices such as aircraft, rocket and auxiliary systems engines and motors.
You will conduct trade-off studies, conduct tests and evaluation, and provide guidance to system developers.
You will analyze technical propulsion problems, develop solutions and support the planning, allocation, direction and execution of IPT workload for assigned advanced development programs.
