Job Description:

The District of Columbia Courts, offers internships for students and recent graduates interested in seeking valuable experience in courts administration. Interns have the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to the Courts’ mission to protect rights and liberties, uphold and interpret the law, and resolve disputes fairly and effectively in the District of Columbia. This internship is for Fall 2025.
Applicant must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident, or authorized by United States Citizenship and Immigration Service to intern in the U.S and at least 18 years old. THIS INTERNSHIP IS FOR STUDENTS Students should display a sense of leadership, and have a desire to work in the legal field. The student must be able to commit a minimum of 10 hours per week to track ABA credit hour requirements. Please note that authorization for the release of your adult criminal record revealing any convictions and forfeitures, and any criminal cases currently pending before the courts is required. If you are selected for the position, a criminal history records check will be conducted. The incumbent should be an enthusiastic and engaged professional who enjoys working with a diverse group of Court personnel and customers and lives the DC Courts’ values of Accountability, Excellence, Fairness, Integrity, Respect, and Transparency.
The Clerk of the Superior Court has an internship opportunity. This position is an unpaid internship. The intern's major duties are below: Observe and assist the Office of the Clerk of the Court with administrative functions and day-to-day operations of all divisions under the authority of the Clerk of the Court. Observe and assist Judicial Support Unit with judicial chambers management. Assist with the organization and disposition of physical and digital documents or records. Assist with providing customer service support, including responding to telephone calls from the public. Observe and assist with data management projects and case management. Assist with daily general administrative tasks.
