Job Description:

ORGANIZATION LOCATION: Fort Yuma Service Unit, Physician Therapy Department. Position is located in Winterhaven, CA, and supervised through the Chief of Physical Therapy. The primary purpose of this position is be responsible for directing and providing physical therapy evaluation and treatment, education, and consultation for the Physical Therapy Program to improve the health and well being of patients through the prevention and treatment of disease, disability and injury.
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Individual Occupational Requirements Education: A graduate or higher level degree that included: A physical therapy curriculum approved by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or a professional accrediting organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained; and Completion of the clinical requirements prescribed by the school. Licensure: For all grade levels and positions, applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physical Therapist from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States; and must have passed the National Physical Therapy Examination administered by the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT). NOTES: Employees currently assigned to positions in this occupational series as of September 2017 will be considered to have met the basic requirements for the position occupied. Applicants who have completed an approved graduate level curriculum and who subsequently completed additional graduate training in a specialized field of clinical practice designed to assure professional competence to practice in the specialty meet the requirements for GS-11. Additional information concerning specialty practice areas is available at the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS) website. In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GS-11: Three (3) years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; OR, One (1) year of specialized experience related to the work of the position and equivalent to at least the GS-9 level in the Federal Service that includes: Responsible in conducting patient evaluations for physical therapy, providing quality care by assessing, interpreting, and evaluating test results; determine physical therapy treatment plans, administer physical therapy treatments, instruct patients, families, and caregivers in home exercise programs, conducting in-service training with Physical Therapy staff. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GS-12: One (1 ) year of specialized experience related to the work of the position and equivalent to at least the GS-11 in the Federal Service that includes: Responsible for performing a full range of treatment where therapeutic objectives are complex and the procedures involved require the application of highly specialized skills and knowledge; assist with coordinating, implementing, and controlling administrative and clinical functions, ensuring clinical proficiency through implementation of performance improvement and quality control measures. You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
Perform Patient Treatment duties such as, conducting therapeutic activities to meet treatment needs of patients, conduct re-evaluation of therapy results to assess patient progress, responsible for patient outcomes to avoid relapse, complete rehabilitation, and patient outcome and satisfaction. Perform program development duties such as, providing consultation services to develop and implement physical therapy services, develop and implement clinical proficiency and community outreach education, assist with clinical scheduling, mentoring clinical support staff, and assist with quality assurance compliances. Perform training duties such as, provide consultation services and/or training for patient management, provide training and orientation on physical therapy procedures to clinical and non-clinical staff.
