BACHELOR¿S DEGREE from an accredited college or university in a related field appropriate to work of the position, OR an appropriate combination of education and experience that demonstrates possession of knowledge and skill equivalent to that gained in the above, OR THREE YEARS of practical experience that demonstrates that the applicant has acquired the knowledge skills and abilities equivalent to that gained in the above. Experience working within a sales/selling environment required. One year of experience working in A supervisory role within a sales/selling environment is preferred. Advanced selling skills and techniques and product merchandising skills required. Ability to train operating standards and procedures for service, service recovery, sales leadership and store brand as well as work within the position to execute these standards properly and coach others within the team to do so with a high degree of skill and confidence. Ability to work in a high-performance atmosphere with commitment to service goals. Ability to multi-task with high quality follow-up and holding teams accountable to results. Strong working knowledge of business processes, controls and system development. Attention to detail is required. FOR POSITIONS INVOLVING FIREARMS/AMMUNITION ONLY: This is a ¿covered position¿ for the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment to the Gun Control Act for Department of the Navy civilian personnel. Due to contact with firearms, or ammunition in accomplishing work, DD Form 2760 certifying whether or not a ¿qualifying conviction¿ for a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence has occurred MUST be completed. The continuing obligation to notify the immediate supervisor of any qualifying conviction through completion of DD Form 2760 is REQUIRED. Ability to successfully obtain/maintain a Tier 3 background investigation.
Responsible for the efficient operation of the Firearms / Tactical Gear department within the retail exchange operation. Maintains store records and files such as daily preparation of accounting records; operational and inventory reports or other reports as required by federal, state, and MCCS / DOD policy. Makes appropriate entries in ATF bound book, logging in required items during receipt / disposition of weapons. Conducts weekly count of on-site weapons, conducts monthly serial number inventory on all firearms and ammunition. Compares totals to bound book count and verifies all documentation to include transfers, invoices, ATF reports, security logs, and transaction logs to ensure accurate control. Ensures compliance with all state and Federal laws pertaining to firearms sales. Orders firearms, ammunition, tactical gear, and other related accessories. Draws up work sheets using required information obtained from vendor or other sources. Computes correct markup for pricing of products. Oversees receipt and transfer of all firearms. Maintains and enforces security of merchandise, funds, equipment and property, and must be alert to theft as well as initiating appropriate action to minimize shortages. Conducts and manages firearms regulations, procedural, safety and sales knowledge training to subordinate department personnel. Ensures staff remains current in training, medical and security clearance certification. Supervises employees to include; assigning and distributing work, counseling and mentoring employees, approving and disapproving leave, recommending and completing personnel actions, completing performance reviews, signing timecards, keeping abreast of and actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment. Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates in a positive and friendly manner. Takes action to solve problems quickly, alerts the higher-level supervisor or appropriate point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards and promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, injury, occupational illness and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment. Performs other related duties as assigned. The incumbent must be capable of lifting up to 45 pounds independently and objects over 45 pounds with assistance.
