Minimum one year experience in a related recreational activity. Must have a valid drivers' license. Knowledge of proper outdoor recreation equipment to include mountain bikes, boating operations to include recreational boats to meet program demands. Knowledge of boat safety procedures, care and minor repair of outdoor equipment (bikes, kayaks, etc ...) is preferred. Skill to demonstrate activities and use of related facility equipment. Skill to learn applicable MCCS policies and procedures. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing. Strong customer services skills required. This is a mixed position where the incumbent must be able to lift and carry objects up to 45lbs independently and objects over 45lbs with assistance.
Serves as Lead Recreation Assistant at the Outdoor Recreation Gear Issue Center. Responsible for coordinating comprehensive Outdoor Gear issue program for authorized patrons ensuring excellence in customer service. Programs include but not limited to; Gear Issue Center that includes renting mountain bikes, kayaks, paddleboards, boating operations to include recreational boats to meet program demands. Knowledge of boat safety procedures, care and minor repair of outdoor equipment (bikes, kayaks, etc., inventory control, cash management, equipment rentals, Bass fishing permits. Overseeing the issue of equipment, collection of fees, safeguards and accounts for all funds collected on a daily basis, accountable for property inventories and resale inventories coordinate the maintenance, repair and general upkeep of all equipment and facilities. Relays instructions from supervisor. Demonstrates work methods and provides work-related guidance. Ensures worksite materials and tools are available to complete work. Reports workplace injuries immediately to the immediate or higher-level supervisor, and to the Human Resources office in the absence of the immediate supervisor. Checks with supervisor on problems. Checks on work and meets productivity goals. Ensure employees follow security, safety and housekeeping rules. Performs supervisory duties in an emergency, or short-term and nonrecurring basis. Ensures that such usage does not conflict with policies governing participation without rank or grade, activity priorities and safety and environmental protection regulations. Assures that the actions and activities of such associations are not contrary to the policies and procedures of and does not compete with, activities of the MCCS program.
