Job Description:

This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will not be accepted through this flyer. Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Demonstrating knowledge of port operations, industry practices and procedures, and regulations, requirements, and techniques related to marine transportation to dispatch and coordinate the movement of various vessels; 2) Demonstrating knowledge of port operation functions such as: tug operations, service craft, pilots, berthing, diving operations, docking evolutions, and hotel services; 3) Using computerized systems' applications, including Microsoft Office software, and equipment techniques, capabilities, and limitations; and 4) Using Marine Industry language terms to effectively communicate with underway-maritime personnel, navy, civilians, and contractors. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
You will stand watch in the Harbor Control Tower, coordinating all vessel traffic including tugs, dive boats, work boats, security boats, floating cranes, and commercial vessels.
You will notify security of all work being performed by small crafts in and around piers and dry-docks.
You will monitor regional base's weather and wind speed, and initiate emergency procedures when weather conditions necessitate preventative measures be taken.
You will coordinate "no wake zones" within the JBPHH SDA to support critical crane operations and other in-water work.
You will relay information for layout locations for all barges, Ship Waste Oil Barges (SWOBs), floating cranes, and all incoming ships and submarines in the JBPHH SDA.
You will assign berthing plans for unscheduled vessels after notification and approval of vessel's arrival in the absence of technician lead and Supervisory Port Logistics Specialist.
