Job Description:
The District of Columbia Courts offers internships for students interested in seeking valuable experience in courts administration. Interns have the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to the Courts’ mission to protect rights and liberties, uphold and interpret the law, and resolve disputes fairly and effectively in the District of Columbia. This internship is for Fall 2025.
Applicant must be a U.S. Citizen or authorized by United States Citizenship and Immigration Service to intern in the U.S and at least 18 years old. THIS INTERNSHIP IS FOR STUDENTS ONLY Ideal candidates will demonstrate strong communication, time management, critical thinking skills and has an interest in the legal field. Preference are students pursing degrees in criminal justice, public administration, law or related fields. The student must be able to commit a minimum of 10 hours per week to track ABA credit hour requirements. Please note that authorization for the release of your adult criminal record revealing any convictions and forfeitures, and any criminal cases currently pending before the courts is required. If you are selected for the position, a criminal history records check will be conducted. The incumbent should be an enthusiastic and engaged professional who enjoys working with a diverse group of Court personnel and customers and lives the DC Courts’ values of Accountability, Excellence, Fairness, Integrity, Respect, and Transparency.
The DC Court of Appeals has an intern opportunity within its office. Duties are as follows: Assist with the preparation of old case files for shredding, including verifying the contents of each file in the Court's case management system. Assist in providing general office support. Assist in answering phones with the help of our experienced clerks. Assist with front counter duties.
