This position is located with the BLM Fire & Aviation Directorate, National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG), located at the National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC), in Boise, Idaho. To qualify for the GS-09 grade level, you must have one (1) full year of creditable specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07. Examples may include the following: Utilize desktop hardware and software, including Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, and PerfectIt, to write, edit, and format products incorporating multimedia elements. Proofread materials to ensure accuracy in spelling, grammar, and punctuation and/or manage multiple facets of work assignments, ensuring high-quality deliverables under deadlines. -OR- Education: two full years (36) semester hours of graduate education which is DIRECTLY related to the work of the position. - OR- Combination of Education and Experience: You may meet qualifications requirement for this position with an equivalent combination of specialized experience and appropriate graduate education. Graduate level education must demonstrate the competencies, knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days date of the announcement. Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade requirement in accordance with 5 CFR 300.604. If you are a current Federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must have completed a minimum of 52 weeks at the next lower grade level.
Oversee individual projects for the Publication Manager by leading the planning, design, and development of National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG) standards publications.
Establish, articulate, implement and maintain general expectations and specific standards in a complex multi-agency environment.
Support the implementation and comprehension of effective and efficient NWCG publications management systems.
Develop and implement effective long-range publication planning and life-cycle management processes.
Communicate and manage timelines with multiple groups and identify any risks to the Publications Manager.
Review publication drafts for: clarity, logic, accuracy, grammatical correctness, spelling, and punctuation; and any other elements that will assist with clear and effective communications in order to manage the overall project.
Provide input as necessary and adapt the style and format of the material to the medium or publication where it will appear.
Ensure that NWCG publications are accurate, current, high quality, and available to NWCG member agencies and other pertinent individuals and entities.
