This is a National Guard Title 32 Excepted position for a NURSING (OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH), Position Description Number PDD1234P01 , and is part of the SC AASF, South Carolina Army National Guard.
THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION OPEN TO THE FOLLOWING AREA OF CONSIDERATION (AOC): Area of Consideration: This position is open to Area 1 Only. Area 1: Current employees of the South Carolina Army National Guard (Tenure 1 and 2) Area 2: Current members of the South Carolina Army National Guard Area 3: Any individual eligible for membership in the South Carolina Army National Guard GENERAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Successful completion of a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree from a professional nursing educational program or related medical science field; or At least one full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-9 grade level) and possession of a diploma, associate degree, bachelor's degree, or master's degree from a professional nursing educational program. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: In addition to the mandatory license and education described above under Basic Requirements applicants must have at least one or more full years of professional nursing experience that is equivalent to the next lower grade level. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT & NOTES: 1. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position 2. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. 3. Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission. 4. May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours; overtime may be required. 5. The duties and responsibilities of your job may significantly impact the environment. Must be able to obtain and maintain credentialing, privileging through the National Guard's Centralized Credentialing and Privileging Preparation Board. Possess a valid, unrestricted license in the US State, territory, or the District of Columbia to practice medicine, board eligible or board certified to include maintaining continuing medical education(CME) hours" Other Requirements: For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or are principally employed. For positions requiring a security clearance (Secret or Top Secret) the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment.
The primary purpose of this position is to manage a comprehensive Occupational Health Program for the state. Serves as the Joint Force Headquarters - State (JFHQ-ST) Occupational Health Nurse (OHN) consultant and principle advisor to the Adjutant General (TAG) on occupational health initiatives. Plans, develops, and analyzes the occupational health nursing services provided to National Guard personnel throughout the state. Work in this series may include managing a comprehensive Occupational Health Program for the state. Requires the ability to analyze, plan, and evaluate the requirements for an occupational health program. Other work may assist in planning, scheduling, executing, managing, and administering installation-wide Medical management, which includes aerospace and operational disposition and medical case management to maintain and promote the health and well-being of military and technician personnel. The work involves counseling, teaching, coordination of services, and participating with other disciplines in interpreting and evaluating the program. Requires is a professional knowledge of nursing principles, theories, concepts, and standards to plan, develop, analyze, and review occupational health/nursing services provided to National Guard personnel throughout the state.
