Job Description:

The primary purpose of the position is to perform duties that require significant manual skill, prior work experience or training, and very heavy physical effort. In order to accomplish these duties, the incumbent must on a regular and recurring basis operate light duty motor vehicles weighing up to 10,000 pounds to transport personnel, material, or equipment to work sites over Federal, state, and county roads and city streets in all traffic conditions.
To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors: Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (SCREEN OUT) Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (other than blueprints) Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Dexterity and Safety Vehicle Operation Work Practices (including keeping things neat, clean, and in order) SCREEN OUTS: QUALIFICATIONS - Perform common laborer tasks including ability to operate trucks weighing up to 10,000 pounds and trailers weighing up to one ton; properly loading and unloading various supplies and equipment; to perform work providing laboring assistance to others in the maintenance of buildings, grounds, roads, and trails; operate power equipment such as lawnmowers, snow blowers, and string trimmers; and safely use a variety of hand tools such as shovels, rakes, hammers, saws, pulaskis, rock bars, etc. Able to safely operate vehicles/equipment in all types of traffic and weather conditions. Utilize most hand, power tools, and heavy power equipment associated with these tasks including but not limited to cleaning custodial tools, lawn mowers, snow blowers, and leaf blowers. Have experience performing operator maintenance on all vehicles/equipment operated (e.g. monitoring fluid levels, checking tire pressure and blade replacement/sharpening). Perform these duties as an expert with a high degree of independence. The supervisor assigned work orally, through work orders, or with written specifications. The work was checked to see that it met compliance with work and safety standards and policies. I utilize most hand and power tools associated with these tasks. I performed these tasks as a skilled helper under close supervision and my work was checked during and after completion. Driver's License: You will be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties; a valid driver's license is required. You will be required to submit a Motor Vehicle Operator's License and Driving Record. You must also submit (within a State sealed envelope or submitted directly by the State authorities), and at your own expense, all certified driving records from all States that disclose all valid driver's licenses, whether current or past, possessed by you. If your knowledge and ability in the SCREEN OUT factor above is not sufficient, you will receive no further consideration. Performs routine maintenance and repair of grounds, exterior structures, buildings, equipment and related utilities. Performs minor carpentry repairs using simple measures and hand tools on such tasks as repairing sidewalks; replace pavers and regrout, dig ditches, and adjustments or replaces hinges, latches and catches. Maintains general cleanliness of grounds, mow, rake, edge, and water lawns, trim trees and shrubbery, remove weeds and debris from flower beds and other landscape features pick up litter from grounds. Performs minor plumbing repairs such as tightening or replacing in-kind fittings and fixtures which do not require custom fitting or solder joints; replaces faucet washers; unplugs drains using a plunger; replaces liquid petroleum gas bottles. Cleans and services chemical toilets, restrooms, and other campground or visitor facilities. Makes minor repairs as needed and refers problems to higher graded workers.
