In addition to the Basic Education Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized Professional Engineering experience at or equivalent to the DP-04 STRL Pay Band or equivalent GS Grade Level (GS-12/13) or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Examples of specialized experience includes performing the majority of following duties: 1. Providing advanced classroom instruction and/or professional consultation in core aerospace subject areas (such as fixed-wing/rotary-wing aeromechanics, airborne systems, or propulsion) to pilots, engineers, or other technical professionals in a university or professional setting. 2. Creating, developing, or updating advanced technical curricula for aerospace engineering or flight test, to include preparing course materials such as lectures, student exercises, or examinations. 3. Applying engineering principles to the test and evaluation of aircraft or complex systems, which includes direct experience in flight test design, data acquisition, data reduction, or data analysis. You will prepare and present approximately 200 hours of graduate-level classroom instruction per year on diverse subjects in aerospace engineering and flight test.
You will develop all associated course materials, including texts, notes, and references, and will prepare and grade student exercises and examinations.
You will advise U.S. Naval Test Pilot School (USNTPS) leadership on academic course content and flight exercises, ensuring the curriculum remains relevant to current and emerging technologies.
You will provide expert engineering consultation to students on their flight test projects, with a focus on flight test design, data acquisition, and data analysis techniques.
You will lead and support research projects focused on emerging test techniques and analysis procedures to grow the USNTPS knowledge base.
You will serve as a subject matter expert and technical consultant on aeromechanics and airborne systems to NAVAIR, other government agencies, and industry partners.
You will foster and maintain strong relationships with researchers in the Navy, academia, and private industry to support cooperative research and curriculum development.
You will, if holding the appropriate pilot qualifications and on an as-needed basis, pilot training aircraft in support of flight exercises (this is an ancillary duty not to exceed 15% of total time).
