Job Description:

This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Office of Communications (OC), Integrated Communications Management Staff in Woodlawn, MD or Washington, DC. As a Health Communications Specialist, GS-1001-13, you will serve as a health communication and marketing content expert and advisor for HHS health, regulatory, or human services programs.

In order to qualify for the GS-13 , you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include: (1) Developing or modifying consumer-facing content and user experiences related to health communications programs; and (2) developing techniques or approaches to improve health communications; and (3) managing communication projects related to health care programs. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Time-in-Grade: To be eligible, current Federal employees must have served at least 52 weeks (one year) at the next lower grade level from the position/grade level(s) to which they are applying. Plan, apply, and evaluate various communication science and marketing techniques to achieve optimal program results and promote positive health outcomes.
Develop messages and materials that are valid and consistent with program objectives and are based on communication and marketing theory and principles as well as audience research
Conduct and manages audience research and program evaluation activities for health communication and marketing.
Contribute to the management and oversight of state, regional, or national public health communication and marketing projects and campaigns.
Plan, apply, and evaluate various communication science and marketing techniques to achieve optimal program results and promote positive health outcomes.
