Job Description:
You will serve as the Director of the NRL Quantum Science Institute (QSI), a Senior Scientific Technical Manager (SSTM) in the Quantum Science Institute of NAVAL RESEARCH LABORATORY.
The applicant is to provide a separate narrative statement which describes fully, but concisely, how his/her experience supports each of the following Mandatory Technical Qualifications. Each technical qualification narrative should not exceed 2 pages. Failure to address these specific qualifications in a separate narrative statement will eliminate you from consideration: Demonstrated world class knowledge of Quantum Information Science and Technologies (QIST). Demonstrated skill at doing original research in QIST with impact on the quantum S&T technical community. Demonstrated ability to create leading edge QIST research objectives and vision at the national and international level. Ability to manage and expand a highly technical workforce. Ability to communicate effectively with senior level flag officers, their civilian equivalents throughout DOD, other agencies, and the private sector about quantum science and technology. You will be responsible for the overall growth and management of the QSI which includes expanding the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) quantum work force consistent with NRL DOR guidance.
You will serve as the NRL 6.1 Base Program QIST Thrust Area Coordinator (TAC).
You will lead the Navy’s QIST Program as the Navy’s Quantum Research Center chartered to engage the private sector for the development and deployment of QIST.
You will oversee the definition and management of in-house QIST program funds.
You will serve as the NRL Senior Executive on the Executive Steering Committee of the Washington Metropolitan Quantum Network Research Consortium (DC-QNet).
You will be assigned the ancillary duty as the head of NRL’s Quantum Information Science Research Center pursuant to FY2020 NDAA Section 220.
