Job Description:
You will serve as a SCIENTIST within one of the organizations of NAVAL SURFACE WARFARE CENTER, CRANE DIVISION. The Secretary of Defense has ordered a department-wide hiring freeze subject to certain limited exceptions. This position is subject to the DoD hiring freeze. Offers of employment related to this vacancy announcement will not be executed until the position has an approved exemption.
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the ND-03 (GS-09 through GS-11 equivalency) pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a professional Scientist providing technical expertise to develop, implement, or integrate software systems or cybersecurity processes (e.g., network security, application security, data security, incident response, threat intelligence, etc.) for an organization. You will apply advanced theoretical and practical knowledge of computer science principles, concepts, and techniques to design, develop, test, implement, and maintain complex software systems.
You will design, develop, and implement complex software systems and applications, considering factors such as performance, scalability, security, and maintainability.
You will analyze user requirements and translates them into technical specifications and system architectures.
You will select appropriate programming languages, tools, and platforms for software development and develop and maintains comprehensive documentation for all software systems.
You will conduct research and experimentation in emerging areas of computer science, (e.g. Machine Learning, cybersecurity, and cloud computing) for an organization.
You will evaluate the new technologies and their potential applicability to the organization's needs.
You will develop prototypes and innovative solutions to address complex problems and publish research findings in technical reports.
You will execute comprehensive test plans and test cases to ensure the quality and reliability of software systems.
You will Identify, analyze, and resolve software defects and performance bottlenecks.
You will be responsible for conducting performance testing, security testing, and usability testing and automate testing processes to improve the efficiency and accuracy.
