About the position: This is a NAF position with the 61st Force Support Squadron, located with Resources on Los Angeles Air Force Base, El Segundo, California. This position is considered Flexible. The position is 0 hours, but has the potential to work up to 40 hours per week. As a flexible employee, you are not eligible for leave or benefits.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Must have 1 year specialized experience that provided knowledge of the basic principles, theories, practices, techniques, and terminology of a discipline or subject matter field. Such Experience must have been equivalent to that which would have been gained through a 2 year college curriculum or 1 year (OJT) On the Job Training or specialized IT training program. Knowledge of computer operating systems, programming languages, and client/server networking environments is required. LANs and WANs are highly recommended areas of expertise. Internet experience and knowledge of web page development and internet tools are desired. Work requires some physical exertion such as regular bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching to move and correct computer equipment; and lifting of moderately heavy boxes that may reach 45 lbs. Successful completion of a Tier-1 Investigation is required. Must possess skill in working with peers and with the public. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
Provides administrative support by assisting in tracking system access requests, maintaining user documentation, preparing routine reports, and performing basic data input to help ensure continuity of operations and the integrity of DoD systems for the 61st Force Support Squadron. Assist in prescribed, plans and implements new, revised or modified data systems based on supervisor review. Assist in updating long-range plans. Ensure the constant enhancement of all automated data systems and software. Maintain system competency in all areas based on supervisor review. Continuously study, analyze, and evaluate all data systems to keep pace with technologies. Study existing systems and mission requirements to identify needed changes in systems and procedures to better serve the business needs of the Services Squadron. Report all findings, studies, and analysis to Supervisor for approval or concurrency. Coordinate all Services Flights automated needs with supervisor for approval. Install, support, and provide training for all Services personnel at all levels on all automated systems. Assist in developing operating instructions for newly implemented systems for both user support and contingency documentation for system management responsibilities. Visit system end users and Services Flights to render technical assistance on system problems as directed. Under close supervision, upgrades existing automated systems to take advantage of new technologies and to train and advise end users on new systems/functions as needed. Assists in the preparation/installation of new systems, including but not limited to communication requirements, installation of cables and connectors and additional electrical support as outline in pre-design instruction and in absents of instruction per supervisor instruction. Coordinate placement of equipment layouts with end users to satisfy their needs. Coordinate all equipment needs with supervisors to ensure equipment purchased meets the specification requirements that will satisfactorily meet the needs of the end user. Assists in Network support functions such as adding and deleting local and remote users, creating mailboxes and calendars for users, data recovery, routine backup systems and data files, analysis of system problems, both at the workstation and file server level, correction of problems identified, design and implementation of cable plans, and user training base on supervisor review. Correct problems when possible and coordinate/document hardware maintenance.
