Job Description:

This position is located at Bureau of Engraving and Printing, within the Facilities Support Services Division. As a Chief Stationary Engineer, you will be responsible for the operations and personnel of the Power Plant. The incumbent manages and oversees the operation and maintenance of the DCF's utility plants and systems.
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. You must meet the screen-out element "Ability to lead or supervise", normally addressed at the beginning of the online questions. In addition, you must also obtain an average score of two (2) for the following elements for this position as addressed through the online question in order to be considered minimally qualified. Your application will be evaluated in the following areas: - Knowledge of equipment, assembly, installation, repair, etc. - Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc. (other than blueprints) - Technical practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) .
As a Chief Stationary Engineer, you will: - Direct the operation, maintenance, and/or repair of the DCF's electric substation, high- and low-pressure steam distribution and condensate return systems for heating and humidification, air-conditioning and refrigerating systems, and air and water pressure systems throughout the DCF. - Coordinate plans with subordinate Assistant Chief Stationary Engineers on the operation of the plants and on servicing and performing repairs on mechanical systems. - Perform constant reviews on operating and servicing functions to provide continuous service and to prevent breakdowns.
