To qualify for an IT Cybersecurity Specialist (PLCYPLN), your resume must support: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-14 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes but is not limited to: Evaluates new cybersecurity tools and platforms against established technical, operational, and security criteria, ensuring alignment with the organization's enterprise architecture, risk management framework, and compliance requirements. Synthesizes evaluation results into actionable recommendations, advising senior leadership on adoption strategies, risk considerations, and long-term sustainability. Develops detailed implementation proposals for recommended technologies, including comprehensive project plans, resource allocations, staffing models, and timelines for phased deployment. Prepares cost analyses, budget justifications, and expenditure forecasts that address procurement, licensing, integration, training, and maintenance requirements. Contributes to the development and refinement of cybersecurity policies, standards, and guidelines that govern technology adoption and utilization. Provides subject matter expertise and consultation to various stakeholders, including executive leadership, program managers, system owners, and operational teams, ensuring alignment of technology decisions with mission objectives. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Serves as a senior technical expert and strategic advisor within DLA. The incumbent leads advanced research initiatives focused on identifying, evaluating, and recommending emerging cybersecurity technologies.
Develops comprehensive implementation proposals, including cost estimates, manpower requirements, and deployment timelines.
Provides ongoing oversight of existing cybersecurity technologies, ensuring optimization, automation, and integration to support DLA's mission-critical operations and strategic security posture.
Conducts in-depth research and analysis of emerging cybersecurity solutions, tools, platforms, and methodologies to determine their relevance, maturity, and potential impact on the organization's security infrastructure.
Identifies industry trends, threat intelligence developments, and evolving best practices to proactively inform the organization's cybersecurity strategy.
