Job Description:

Serves as a Supervisory Store Associate in a commissary store at a Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) facility. The primary purpose of this position is perform as a first line supervisor for Store Associates. Specific assignments vary by individual store and store management requirements.
You must meet the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) qualifications for series 1101 and additional requirements by the announcement closing date. Your resume (and/or transcript if necessary) must clearly show that you have the qualifications described below. You can use experience, education, or a combination of the two to qualify. Experience: One (1) year of demonstrated knowledge of retail procurement and distribution methods; principles, procedures, and techniques of retail food merchandising and retail food store management; and developments in commercial retail food store items, equipment, and practices (specialized experience) equivalent to at least the GS-7 grade level. Experience can be under other Federal service pay systems, private sector, or military. Examples of qualifying experience include: Plans, directs, or assigns work for employees. Knowledge of multiple departments within the grocery store to evaluate work, provide instruction and conduct on the job training for workers. Carry out daily retail grocery store functions necessary to successfully execute store operations. Additional Requirements that must be met by the closing date: Physical requirements: Frequently lift, push, pull, carry, and handle commissary products weighing up to 40 pounds without assistance. Heavier products are moved with assistance from other workers or by weight-handling equipment (for example: manual or electric pallet jacks.) (2) Long periods of standing, walking, bending, reaching, and similar activities when taking inventory, retrieving items from the warehouse, and stocking shelves. You will attest to your ability to perform these physical requirements in the Questionnaire. Time-in-grade applies to the promotion of current and former federal employees who hold or have held a permanent GS position in either the competitive or excepted service in the previous 52 weeks, including current employees applying under VEOA. Performs as a second level supervisor for the store associates. Directs some or all of the following work: Front-end operations including patron identification, customer inquiries, checkout and cash control. Non-perishable stock control including transporting items within the store and stocking shelves. Meat display and case stocking. Movements of items to and from freeze or chill sections. Produce inspection, display and rotation. Accounts maintenance, supply, and computer operations. Directs safety, security, and sanitation practices .and procedures, and maintains a safe and clean work environment. Performs other duties as assigned. Read the entire job announcement.
