This vacancy is for a GS-2005-7, Supply Technician located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, SFLC WMEC SUPPLY BRANCH -SFLC-MEC-SUPP.
To qualify at the GS-07 grade level, applicants must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Specialized experience must include the following: Basic understanding and knowledge of standardized Federal supply operations relating to procurement of material, mandatory turn-in programs. Experience with software programs such as EXCEL, WORD, OUTLOOK and MICROSOFT TEAMS. Experience providing customer service requests for status of orders to include availability of material, order status and shipment tracking. Experience checking received requisitions for accuracy such as destination address, quantity required and priority of order. Experience tracking material quality discrepancies or supply deficiencies and routing to appropriate persons for disposition NOTE: Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
You will serve as a Supply Technician and be responsible for performing tasks in support of larger scale projects performed by higher-level Inventory Management Specialists. Assignments involve conducting searches for required information, reconstructing records for complex supply transactions, and providing supply operations support for activities involving specialized or unique SBPL supplies, equipment and parts. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Conducting provisioning and pre procurement screening for preparing new item entries for stock number assignments. Preparing and controlling National Stock Number (NSN) Announcements. Assigning Activity Control Numbers (ACN). Screening incoming high priority requisitions to ensure transactions are free of errors or takes appropriate action to correct or reject requisitions. Answering request for item identification data and providing clerical and assistance to higher level supply technicians and specialist.
