About the Position: This is a Power Plant Maintenance and Remote Operations Supervisor, WB-4701-00 position with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Southwestern Division, Fort Worth District, Operations Division, Piney Woods Regional Office and will be located in Jasper, TX. This is a permanent and full-time position. This is a Bargaining Unit Position.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Power Plant Maintenance and Remote Operations Supervisor without more than normal supervision. ??????? Ability to Lead or Supervise - Performing the most difficult and complex supervisory tasks including being skilled in planning the use of subordinate supervisors, workers, equipment, facilities, materials and tools on a day-to-day or project-by-project basis. Projects are complex and often changing, making the need to update the planning of workers and equipment on a constant basis. Identify potential problems with power plant equipment and systems and made the necessary changes whether it be in personnel or procedures, to avoid the future problems all together. Verify the quality of work done during and after a project has been completed. Typical work that is being validated includes, but is not limited to, work from the following power plant journeyman disciplines: Electricians, and Mechanics. Considered an expert and work with a high degree of independence. OR Performing the full range of complex supervisory tasks to include being skilled in planning the use of workers, equipment, facilities, materials, and tools on a day-to-day or project-by project basis. Projects are routine and often steady with few changes making the original plan of workers and equipment sufficient. Identify problems with power plant equipment and systems when they happened and made the necessary changes whether it be in personnel or procedures, to correct the problem. Verify the quality of work done during and after a project has been completed. Typical work that is being validated includes, but is not limited to, work from the following power plant journeyman disciplines: Electricians, and Mechanics. Work on own initiative under general supervision subject to occasional inspection. OR Performing most common supervisory tasks to include ability to assign work to plan the use of workers, equipment, facilities, materials, and tools on a day to-day or project-by-project basis. Work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading) Ability To Lead or Supervise Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc. Knowledge of Materials Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Use of Measuring Instruments PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work tasks require that the incumbent be capable of rapid simultaneous mental and muscular coordination in conjunction with hand and eye coordination to operate switches and controls in accordance with meter indications. To respond to emergency situations, incumbent must be able to lift and carry heavy objects, climb several flights of stairs in succession, stand, sit, or kneel for prolonged periods of time. WORKING CONDITIONS: Most duties are performed within the confines of Master Power Plant control room. Job duties may be required on the generator and turbine floor, spillway and switchyard as circumstances dictate. Some exposure to moderate discomforts such as noise, heat, cold, moving, and rotating equipment can be expected.
Directs preventive and break-down maintenance to minimize equipment outage time and maintain maximum availability of equipment.
Accomplishes maintenance of major equipment at times, and within time limits, coordinated with and allowed by the division.
Participates in the planning and administration of both long and short-range programs relative to major maintenance problems on dam and related equipment.
Conducts all work in strict compliance with the Corps' Hazardous Energy Control Procedures.
