About the Position: This position is in a Medical/Trauma Center on the Camp Lejeune Marine Corps Base in eastern North Carolina. The work is conducted within the medical facility, branch medical and dental clinics, as well as the industrial areas that serve the medical center. The work week consists of 40 day shift hours Monday through Friday with rare weekend or others hours.

Basic Qualifications for the GS-11 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes lead inspections or survey workplaces, processes, products, or other systems for compliance with established safety and occupational health policies or standards and to identify potential new hazards. Design organizational changes, develop strategic concepts, assessing program development, improvement of organizational effectiveness related to a safety and occupational health. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene). OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
The primary duties include performing safety and fire inspections and conducting mishap investigations.
Responsible for the implementation of programs based on established national safety standards, including other applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
Provides guidance on educational programs related to safety for Medical Treatment Facility Staff and other support activities in the command.
Analyzing or evaluating new and existing jobs, processes, products, or other systems to determine the existence, severity, probability, and outcome of hazards.
Assist, address, and provide guidance to staff’s Safety and Occupational Health (SOH) concerns.
