Job Description:
You will serve as a RESEARCH MICROBIOLOGIST in the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery (BUMED) of NAVMEDRSCHCMD DET FREDERICK.
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience supporting and leading medical product research and development of medical solutions in the fields of infectious diseases to include virology, bacteriology, toxins, and immunology. Experience preparing documents, reports, presentations, and manuscripts for submission to scientific journals, patent applications, and book chapters related to the Immunology and Microbiology Department. Experience in the development and testing of immunological reagents and assays. Experience providing direction to a multidisciplinary research team in the conception, formulation, resourcing, and execution of a research program. Experience providing guidance to junior staff, clerical support and students/interns by planning work based on priorities and prepares schedules for the completion of work. You will serve as a Principal Investigator at the Immunology and Microbiology Department.
You will be responsible for conducting original research, both independently and in collaboration with the Department Head, and other members of the Department.
You will be involved in the development and testing of immunological reagents and assays.
You will be responsible for overseeing the quality program for the production of BDRD’s antibodies and immunoassay.
You will provide input in developing statement of works for non-personnel contracts and monitor/evaluate contractual performance as required by awarded contracts.
