The primary purpose of this position is to serve as primary point of contact with overall responsibility for planning, coordinating, facilitating and directing squadron information technology systems operations.
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Group Coverage Qualification Standard for Clerical and Administrative Support Positions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience include to serve as primary point of contact with overall responsibility for planning, coordinating, facilitating and directing squadron information technology systems operations. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of IT customer support concepts and methods, installed operating systems, network systems, applications, protocols, and equipment, and the Logistics IT infrastructure sufficient to serve as senior customer technical analyst with responsibility for resolving the most complex customer problems. 2. Knowledge of IT security principles, concepts, practices, products and services, and methods for evaluating risk and vulnerability, implementing mitigating improvement, and disseminating IT security tools and procedures for the Logistics information systems. 3. Knowledge of database management and project management methods sufficient to optimize systems performance, troubleshoot database performance problems, and perform a wide range of systems administration functions. 4. Knowledge of safety, security, personnel management, and EEO regulations, practices, and procedures. 5. Knowledge of local area network systems, equipment, software, and hardware to provide technical specifications, installation, configuration, maintenance, training, and assistance in all computer-related areas. 6. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium sized organization. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of the Logistics Readiness Information System Services, ensuring Information Systems comply with legal and regulatory requirements and meet customer needs. Represents the 97th Logistics Readiness Squadron with a variety of installation and functional area organizations. Provides technical assistance, systems advisory services, and training. Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Project Manager. Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) and Information Assurance Officer (IAO) for the Logistics Readiness Squadron.
