Job Description:
This position is located in the Office Services Branch of the Administrative Services Division. This branch is responsible for the receipt, pick up, sorting, distribution, and mailing of all papers received and sent out by judges and employees of the Courts. There is a 100 application limit on this position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A high school diploma or General Equivalence Diploma (GED) plus (1) year of clerical experience. Previous mail handling experience and knowledge of computer software such as Windows-based word-processing software and Excel spreadsheets is preferred. Must possess and maintain a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's permit/license. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and be able to endure prolonged standing and walking. Please note that authorization for the release of your adult criminal record, revealing any convictions and forfeitures, and any criminal cases currently pending before the courts is required. If you are selected for the position, a criminal history records check will be conducted. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Daily pick-up, opening, sorting, and routing of mail in the District of Columbia Courts' system. Maintaining and submitting route trip records to the Mailroom Supervisor. Assisting in the reproduction section, i.e. sorting, collating, and xeroxing of various Court documents, as needed. At times will be required to be outside and will be exposed to prevailing weather conditions. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, and be able to endure prolonged standing and walking.
