To qualify for a Quality Assurance Specialist, your resume and supporting documentation must support: A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: Utilizing the full range of principles, concepts, and methodologies related to quality assurance and product testing activities to plan and accomplish a variety of testing activities. Working with automated test systems to support customer equipment, interfaces, and products. Assisting with developing product testing plans and approaches. Engaging in reviews and analyses of product testing programs, laboratory operations, and quality assurance activities. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Monitoring the overall financial, scheduling, laboratory testing, and performance evaluations for assigned activities.
Controlling activities related to one or more special programs, such as failure analysis (FA), Destructive Physical Analysis (DPA), the Quality Audit Program, or the Counterfeit Materials/Unauthorized Substitution Program.
Reviewing testing and evaluation activities performed in-house, military service labs, and/or by commercial test laboratories.
Ensuring contractor compliance with quality and reliability provisions of applicable specifications, standards, and/or contracts.
Developing detailed plans, procedures, and technical requirements for controlling test and evaluation programs.
Evaluating technical and quality assurance aspects of product testing operations and providing recommendations for operational improvements or revisions.
Participating in meetings, conferences, and committees pertaining to the assigned areas of product testing expertise.
Acting as a liaison with research and development elements of the military services in developing and recommending test methods, and offering technical comments pertaining to sufficiency of proposed and existing test methods.
