Job Description:

This is located in the Office of Secure Transportation (OST), Office of Mission Operations (OMO), Operations Division (OD), Mission Support Branch (MSB) and serves as an Emergency Management Specialist, providing operational coverage and emergency system and procedures analysis in support of the DOE Emergency Management Program.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower NNSA Demonstration Project pay band or GS grade level in the Federal service, i.e., NQ-01 or GS-08 Level Position. Qualifying specialized experience for this position is defined as: Experience analyzing, providing operational coverage and resolution when encountering emergency events. Experience developing and implementing emergency management program policies and initiatives. Examples of Specialized Experience: 1. Experience operating all facets of a 24-hour, 7-day a week operation in an Emergency Operations Center. This includes emergency planning and preparedness processes and procedures in order to evaluate potential or emergency situations. 2. Experience responding to Emergency Response situations from government, military, Federal and other government enforcement/security organizations. 3. Experience preparing, operating, and managing multi-computer-based systems and networks used in emergency operations centers. "Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. CTAP/ICTAP candidates: To be considered "well qualified" you must meet all of the requirements as described in this section. If you are eligible for career transition assistance plans such as ICTAP or CTAP, you must meet the definition of "well qualified" which is defined as having a score of 85 or better. You must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
As an Emergency Management Specialist, you will: Provide operational coverage and emergency system and procedural analysis in support of DOE Emergency Management. Apply analytical and evaluative techniques to the identification, consideration, and resolution of issues/problems, including those encountered during emergency events. Assist in developing and maintaining the compatibility for DOE/NNSA to respond effectively to all types of emergency situations. Assist with the operational and management of incident/emergency computers, communications, and networks within the transportation and emergency Control Center (TECC).
