Job Description:
This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Office of Communications,(OC), Integrated Communications Management Staff (ICMS). As a SUPERVISORY COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST, GS-1001-15, you will serve as the ICMS Deputy Director and assist in leading staff and leadership teams tasked with leveraging OC's resources across all program areas to develop and implement tactical plans for all CMS external communications.

In order to qualify for the GS-15, you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include:(1) Providing direction or guidance to staff responsible for strategic or tactical communications; and (2) Leading a team in planning health communications programs for the public and 3) Overseeing a staff responsible for developing techniques or approaches to improve health communications. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Counsel employees on both work and administrative matters.
Oversee the technically complex projects and initiatives designed to address HHS and CMS Strategic Plan goals and objectives related to the work of the organization.
Analyze program issues to make recommendations for challenges associated with media and stakeholder relations.
Represent senior CMS officials in high-level internal and external meetings, seminars, conferences, and other events as it relates to communication and CMS's goals and objectives.
Analyze and identify work barriers and develop ways to reduce them, promoting team building, and improving work processes.
