OIG is organized into six operational units: the Immediate Office of the Inspector General, Office of the Counselor, Office of Audits and Evaluations, Office of Healthcare Inspections, Office of Investigations, and Office of Management and Administration. In addition to the Washington, DC, headquarters, OIG has offices located in more than 60 locations throughout the country.
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. Specialized experience for the GS-13 is one year of experience at the GS-12 level, or equivalent, that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position which includes: - Experience providing clinical healthcare services requiring interpretation of various medical regulation and directives; AND - Experience conducting healthcare audits, inspections, or program evaluations. OR Successful completion of an agency-sponsored on-the-job training program may be substituted for qualifying experience, provided it included a formal individualized training plan. Such a training program must have been conducted in an operating health care system and included: - Assignments providing a knowledge of basic health system administration philosophies, practices, and procedures, and basic Government administrative policies and requirements; - Practical assignments providing an opportunity to apply a broad range of quality assurance and health care program inspections and evaluation skills. (as the individual progresses, work assignments must be characteristic of the grade level to which he or she is assigned); and - Oversight by an experienced health system administrator with periodic evaluation of the individual's progress and appropriate adjustment of the training program. In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-13, you must have been at the GS-12 level for 52 weeks. Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a nontemporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
Duty locations are limited to the following for this position: San Diego, CA; Denver, CO; Washington, DC; Baltimore, MD; Kansas City, MO; Trenton, NJ; Dallas TX; Seattle, WA; Spokane, WA As a Health Systems Specialist, you will: Assist the team leader in a broad range of quality improvement and health care program inspections and evaluations. Plan, coordinate, and/or conduct extensive pre-inspection research, monitor team members progress, and provide guidance as needed. Draft impactful written reports, executive summaries, and briefings. Plan and schedule project briefings, to include pertinent legislative and regulatory information. Provide accurate information through professionally delivered briefings to OIG leaders, Congressional stakeholders, and VHA managers and staff.
