To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements. Education: There is no substitution of education for specialized experience for this position. Experience: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and must typically be in or related to the position to be filled. Some examples of this qualifying experience are: Experience preparing correspondence to various federal agencies, U.S. Attorney’s, Federal Judges, public defenders and other government officials. Experience providing advice and assistance in the resolution of complex operational and administrative issues/problems. Experience conducting strategic planning for an organization/agency. If applicable, credit will be given for paid and unpaid experience. To receive proper credit, you must show the actual time (such as number of hours worked per week) spent in the activities. **Your eligibility for consideration will be based on your responses to the questions in the application.**
Provides advice and assistance on complex and sensitive management, operational and administrative issues. Analyzes management needs, proposes the most effective strategies, and monitors implementation to evaluate the success or the need for modification. Assists the Deputy Director in the effective operation of the Director’s Office. Reviews proposed legislation and regulations for their impact on BOP programs, operations, and employees. May participate with BOP executives in meetings with Congressional staff members to represent the Bureau of Prison’s interests and goals. Serves as the Deputy Director’s personal liaison with other governmental agencies (both state and federal). Assists with the responsibility for the development, implementation and evaluation of programs and policies created for effective management of the BOP.
